After years of planning weddings and events with some of Atlanta’s biggest and best event planning firms, Jersey-girl and Scarlet Plan & Design founder, Sara Skinner, set out on her own in 2013 with $200 in her pocket and an unwavering desire to shake things up. Deeply passionate about marriage equality, interfaith weddings and nontraditional events, she sought out to create a firm where couples of all walks of life, backgrounds and faiths would be celebrated and welcomed like family. Creating, designing and styling bespoke weddings and proposals that reflect both the love story and the personalities of her couples, Sara's creativity and uncanny ability to look outside the box for inspiration for her clients has made her a trend-setter in the event industry. A mastermind of logistics and planning, no detail goes unnoticed when Sara is involved.

In addition to being a regular featured contributor for Southern Bride Magazine, her work and her wedding planning advice has been featured on numerous blogs and in magazines such as The Knot Magazine, Style Me Pretty, The Celebration Society, Glamour & Grace, Ruffled Blog, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Modern Luxury Brides Atlanta and many more.

Wife, mother and also the Founder and CEO of Revolution Wedding Tours, a bridal show alternative in the form of a Wedding Show On The Go, Sara is one busy girl! When she’s not hard at work for SPD or RWT, you can find Sara exploring Charleston with her sweet husband, Tony, and their little boy, Matthew. She loves bringing new life to old items and adores hunting for treasures at junk shops & yard sales to offer clients unique décor for their events.

liza sakowski - wedding planner & event designer - scarlet plan & design.png

As Sara’s cousin, Liza was literally born to be in this business! She’s always had a passion for event planning and out-of-the-box design. Liza brings a background of photography, catering, film editing and production management to the team. She has been with Scarlet Plan & Design from the get-go back in 2013 when we just started our mission in Charleston, SC. And now that she's moved "back home" we're proud to have Philadelphia, New Jersey and New York City locations as well! 

A little bit about her: She jams out to “Let’s Get it Started” by the Black Eyed Peas on the way to every single event. Her friends say that she can get every drop out of a wine bottle, as well as open the bottle with anything handy, like a shoe. Her love languages are Champagne (I mean she is related to Sara, so obvi) and a nice home cooked meal (that she doesn’t have to cook herself). In her off time you will find her in her natural habitat of the woods, either snowboarding in Vermont or hiking with her dog, Sakari and her boyfriend, Chuck. She wouldn’t be able to live without lipstick and coffee on a wedding day, keeps her awake and motivated to make your day perfect!

This South Carolina native wants to live in a world where all he has to do is hit CTRL-F and magically find anything he's misplaced. As our official Event Manager he handles the logistics and numbers for weddings, but mostly he keeps us from spending all our money on lemon peppa chicken & champagne. A mastermind of logistics and planning, no detail goes unnoticed when Sean is involved. He does an excellent job working hand-in-hand with our vendors while juggling installs across the South with us, but mostly he brings the good vibes to our weekly team dinners at Sara's house and keeps our train on the tracks!

kim janowski - wedding planner & event designer - scarlet plan & design.png

Kim Janowski has a unique and extensive background in planning and design. She also happens to be one of Sara's dearest friends going all the way back to their high school days in New Jersey. After years of traversing the world, she followed her heart here to the American South with her husband, Lawrence, a Sergeant in the U.S. Army.

Kim is a graduate of Rutgers University with a background in Cultural Anthropology and Architecture. This training provided her with the lens to formulate design around cultural fusion and functionality. Kim began her event planning and design career in California's Big Sur, where she gained experience creating intimate coastal weddings in beautiful Carmel-By-The-Sea. A wannabe sommelier, Kim worked with local vintners to produce charming weekly wine tastings nestled in Big Sur's colossal cliffs and set around romantic bonfires that overlooked the powerful swells of Monterrey Bay. Through this unique experience she has adopted an organic approach to design that encapsulates a simplistic elegance that will bring you back to nature.

When Kim isn’t planning and designing events, she finds joy in discovering the charm and character of new places as well as spending time in the great outdoors with her husband Lawrence through running, fishing, camping, or simply taking a long walk with their beagle named Charlie.


Megan O'Donnell _ wedding planner & event designer _ scarlet plan & design.png

Megan O'Donnell grew up in southern Georgia and graduated with two degrees - one in Marketing and one in Management. She found a taste for weddings from a very early age since her father is a judge and officiated many weddings. She fell in love with the industry and loves the idea of creating a vision and bringing it to life!  Not a single detail goes unnoticed with Megan on the team. She became a wedding planner because, well, she loves to plan! (trips, to-do lists, to weddings)  Megan believes the most important thing is organization and creativity.

Megan was drawn to Scarlet Plan & Design because of the unique events and styled shoots, which she is excited to bring her creativity and inspiration to. When she’s not working, you can find Megan writing, whipping up a gourmet meal, or daydreaming about the beach
